1. What we collect
We collect the minimum amount of data needed to operate the site:
- Server logs — IP address, browser, referrer, page URL — held for 30 days for security and analytics
- Newsletter — email address only, voluntary, with a one-click unsubscribe in every email
- Comments — name and email (email never displayed)
- Tool data — water-test logs, aquascape layouts, maintenance entries, and quiz results are stored only in your browser's
localStorage. They never leave your device. Clearing browser storage erases them permanently.
2. What we don't collect
We don't sell your data. We don't run cross-site tracking pixels. We don't fingerprint you. We don't profile you for ad targeting.
3. Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies for site functionality (e.g., remembering whether you've dismissed a banner). We do not use third-party advertising cookies. If you visit our YouTube embeds, YouTube sets its own cookies — see Google's privacy policy.
4. Affiliate links
We use Amazon Associates affiliate links. When you click an Amazon link from our site, Amazon may set a referral cookie that lets us earn a commission on qualifying purchases. The cookie typically expires after 24 hours. See Amazon's privacy notice.

This site is intended for adults and supervised hobbyists 13+. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
