FTC-required disclosure
Saltwater Aquarium Guide is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. You pay no extra when you buy through an affiliate link — Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale.
How we mark affiliate links
Every affiliate link on this site:
- Uses the attribute
rel="nofollow sponsored noopener" - Opens in a new tab so you don't lose your place
- Carries the Amazon Associates tag
rcblogs-20 - Is anchored with text like "View on Amazon", "Check price on Amazon", or "Shop on Amazon" — never disguised
What affiliate links don't do
- They do not affect our reviews. Equipment is ranked on reef-tested performance, not on commission rates.
- They do not change the price you pay.
- They do not share your personal data with us. We only know that someone bought from a link.
Why we do this
Affiliate income lets us spend 90+ days reef-testing equipment before recommending it, run real PAR/flow measurements, and keep the site free of pop-ups and intrusive ads. If you find our work useful, clicking an Amazon link before your next reef purchase costs you nothing and supports independent reef editorial.
Other partnerships
Where we accept review samples from manufacturers, we mark them clearly in the article ("Sample provided by..."). Samples are returned, sold at cost, or kept on test for long-term reporting (also disclosed). Sample acceptance never affects ranking.
Caps on monetization
Per our editorial policy, no section contains more than 1–2 affiliate links. We don't bury you in CTAs.
